One of the most unique and elegant watches Stuhrling has ever offered. It is not well known that this style pays homage to the advent of the wristwatch. During arial combat of World War I aircraft,
fuel gauges had not yet been implemented so flying time was the determining factor of flight time. Women's pocket watches were found to be of optimal size in affixing to the pilot's wrist, thus the birth of the wristwatch. This is evident in the design of the Stuhrling San Marco. With a 23-jewel automatic with exhibition case back, alligator embossed leather band, and rose gold tone case, it states a certain elegance. A day/date indicator, AM/PM indicator, and a dial indicator "gas gauge," the San Marco can be wound by its crown or simply by the movement of the wearer. Very minor wear evident in this example. One careful owner.
